The Hawaii plate lunch shows the cultural and ethnic diversity of the islands. Broadly speaking, it includes a serving of rice and a protein food portion, which sounds pretty bland and boring at a high-level. When you get to the nitty-gritty, the variety and creativity is endless with each plate lunch having its own unique type of flare, look and taste. The food items included in the plate lunch are inspired by the many ethnicities and cultures that reside on the islands – Hawaiian, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino, Vietnamese and many others.
Personally, our favorite is Soon’s Kalbi BBQ plate lunches at the Salt Lake Shopping Center. It is the first place we visit whenever we land on the island of Oahu. See my favorite meat juhn and bbq chicken combo plate lunch below. I also dedicate a separate post to this place as it is truly special.
Enough of my writing and maybe you can drool on the videos and pics below!
